Due to an expanding family (and a VW bus for that family) our beloved Beryl was sold.  Beryl is an absolutely correct L478 Beryl Green 1963 1200 Deluxe Beetle in stunning original condition.

Bodywork  

The bodywork can be described as excellent condition having been resprayed once. The colour match excellent and the paint has been applied with care to the exterior only. There has been NO WELDING required during her 40+ year life and requires none now - not even to the battery tray. This car was sheltered for the majority of her life. Recently waxoyled underneath and in the arches - nothing to hide. All wings, doors, bonnet and bootlid panels are original. The wheels were recently sand blasted, black powder coated and then resprayed using correct paint - they look stunning with five good 165R15 tyres. Recent replacement green running boards correct for year - we even have the originals. Spare wheel well is unspoilt and still shows the original rubber drain plugs.

Chrome

All good and original with the exception of a brand new stainless front bumper which replaced a slightly dull original. All over riders are original and still bright chrome. Headlights and indicators good chrome. Quarter windows showing some slight 'pickling'.  Seen in the pic is the original cardboard liner and wiring cover - you can't buy these.

Engine & Mechanicals

Correct 1200 with recent service, blue super coil, plugs, points and cap, dynamo brushes, new heat exchangers and stainless exhaust box and stainless exhaust tips. Serviced yearly, starts easily and still 6V throughout. MOT to mid May 2004. Brakes are good, handbrake good, steering has had new box in its history. The original Hella headlights have been uprated to 6V Halogen. Even has the original battery cover and strap.

Interior

This is the amazing part - it is all original.  The colour scheme on this car is a super rare 2 year only - even down to the green rubber mats, green gear lever boot and green bound carpet. You cannot buy these colours anywhere.  Even the seats are a slight shade of green. The seats have no rips do not sag and look good. Rear seat virtually unworn. The door cards are near perfect. The german square weave carpet is showing some wear but still very usable and very original. Original radio and speaker. Steering wheel showing some signs of wear.  Carpet in the rear shelf shows fading only. Headliner shows little marking and hardly any water staining.

A FULL SET of professionally fitted (400 quid+) modern 3 point seatbelts with green webbing were fitted. We regularly travelled with a Britax baby seat in the front.

History

Full history of services and all MOT's to authenticate 95000 mile on speedo to be accurate. Lots of receipts for parts.
